The largest Solar Flare ever seen on the sun? Possible shutdown of the Power grid?

So, a solar flare has caused the largest eruption on the sun scientists have ever witnessed. On the surface, that's pretty cool. I've seen the video, and it's an amazing sight, but then I think, that was a massive CME (Coronal Mass Ejection) that just might wreak havoc on power grids and communications equipment ( cell phones, radio, satellites, etc) across the world.

So-called experts at NASA claim this CMA will delivery a "glancing blow" to the earth sometime tonight or tomorrow evening. Many people claim nothing will happen, but I say it's always good to be prepared in the event you do lose power.

Just in case, a few things you might consider stocking up on, are

1. candles
2. canned foods
3. bottled water
4. batteries
